The 2015 Scientific Exploration Society Explorer Awards were presented by Col John Blashford-Snell, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Pen Hadow, Neville Shulman CBE and Andrew Mitchell at the Park Tower Hotel in Knightsbridge on Tuesday the 5th May.
The Chobham Carnival has been an annual village event since 1987, and has been successfully raising finds for community groups every year. The entertainment starts with a procession down the village high street, and follows with a day of events on the recreation ground.
Many of the village organisations take part in the procession.
In the months leading up to remembrance day on the 11th November 2014 an installation of ceramic poppies evolved in the moat surrounding the Tower of London. The installation was called Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red, and the 88,246 ceramic poppies created by artists Paul Cummins and Tom Piper were to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.
Each poppy represented a British military fatality during the way. They were progressively added between the 17th July and the 11th November 2014.
We were privileged to be asked by the Scientific Exploration Society to photograph their annual explorer awards. The presentations took place at the Sheraton Park Tower Hotel in Knightsbridge. The founder of the SES, Colonel John Blashford-Snell, and some of the leading explorers of today including Neil Laughton, Andrew Mitchell, Rosie Stancer, Pen Hadow and Mikael Strandberg were all at the Park Tower Hotel in Knightsbridge for the presentations.
